TOURISM: HISTORIC HORSERACE BETWEEN DISTRICTS OF CORI

walk-ons and a race between the horsemen of the three districts
of the city, Ninfina, Signina and Romana: the historic
'Carosello' of the Cori districts will take place in the
province of Latina on Sunday June 20 and June 27.
The event, instituted in 1937 in honour of the 'Madonna del
Soccorso' who appeared in Cori in 1521, and of Santa Oliva,
patron saint of the town since the 12th century, includes a
historic procession through the town's streets with walk-ons
wearing costumes from the first half of the sixteenth century.
The procession is followed by a horserace, during which the riders compete in a competition in which a perfect harmony between man and horse is vital.
During the festivities, the restaurants will stay open and visitors can taste the typical dishes of Cori.(ANSA).
