(ANSA) - ROMA, 25 GIU - Promoting the tourism sector and
understanding what could be the possible guidelines for
development in the sector in the coming years were the topics
that were discussed during a round table discussion that took
place during the Communication Forum currently taking place at
the Rome Auditorium.
The meeting was attended by the President of the Regional
Agency for Tourism Promotion of Rome and Lazio, Federica Alatri,
the Vice-President of Assorel, Filomena Rosato, the President of
the Association for Maritime Patrimony and the Development of
Outstanding Coastal Tourism, Max Castellano.
"Everyone must be convinced that tourism is an industry and
therefore the approach must be the most appropriate for that of
a purely economic sector," said Alatri. "Tourism entrepreneurs
must invest in an innovative way to generate employment, while
the institutions must act to support businesses, realising
promotional activities, relaunching infrastructure and creating
a functional regulatory and administrative context."
"Today it is clear that all of us who say that in Italy we
have the Colosseum, the excavations in Pompei, the Uffizi, the
churches in Venice, are no longer operating sufficiently," he
added, "it is necessary to accompany these realities with
organised tourism proposals and innovative ideas. For example:
at Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli, tourists are being offered
night-time and evening visits enlivened by art and dance
festivals with internationally recognised events as part of
tourism packages for visits or overnight stays. Different ways
of proposing destinations are needed. In other words, coming to
Rome and the region to get married, play golf, go shopping or go
to the Infiorata festival in Genzano, or going to see the living
nativity scene in Greccio. And it's a rich agenda of traditional
festivals, religious celebrations and historical feasts,"
concluded Alatri, "that is linked to the promotional campaign,
"Tutto il Lazio è paese".(ANSA).
