TOURISM: SANIT 2010 - ENVIRONMENT AND GREEN HOTELS
25 giugno, 13:25 (ANSA) - ROMA, 25 GIU - "Tourism, environment and health: the
Ecolabel brand, the cherry on the tourist-structure cake". This
is the subject of a congress organised by Arpa Lazio, the
Regional Agency for Environmental Protection in Lazio, scheduled
to take place on June 25 as part of the Sanit 2010 International
Forum dedicated to healthcare and quality of life, which is in
its sixth year this year. Among the numerous threads to be
followed at the congress are health care and food safety in
hotels, environmental footprint and Ecolabel certification. The
congress will be attended by the Chair of ATLazio, Federica
Alatri and the Chair of Federalberghi Roma, Giuseppe Roscioli.
In the words of Ms Alatri, "The environment represents without doubt a great source of added value for tourism promotion and plays an essential role is played by those structures that according to Community Regulation No. 66/2010 may be awarded with the Ecolabel marque. This is a European certification of excellence awarded to products and services with a low energy footprint. An information campaign has finished recently in Lazio involving the owners and heads of natural protected areas. In its regulations regarding tourism, the Lazio Region has confirmed the validity of the European Ecolabel, acknowledging the opportunities for those organisations conforming to the criteria established by the European Union, to obtain the title of "Ecologically-endorsed agro-tourism establishment", "eco-hotel", "establishment conforming to ecological standards ". This is an opportunity for Lazio-based businesses to set out on the road of quality tourism".(ANSA).
